Jefferson Special Education

Welcome to Special Education:
The Temple ISD Special Education department works to ensure that the individual needs of each child are addressed so that all of our students can become healthy, productive members of the community.  Students benefit when there is strong collaboration between home and school, so we encourage families to stay in contact with your child’s teachers.  For additional information, resources and helpful links, including district contact information, please check out our district page using the link in the box to the right.
Welcome to Functional Academics:
Functional academics is a self-contained classroom that incorporates social and language skills in core content areas: science, social studies, language arts, and mathematics. The specialized curriculum, Unique Curriculum, used in the classroom follows the TEKS per grade level and parents/students may access the curriculum at home to receive extra practice on content. We work primarily in small groups to target each student’s needs. Students are expected to follow  individual schedules and work on some tasks independently.

Please have your child arrive on time, as instruction begins at 7:50. Check your child’s folder daily for homework assignments and daily communication.
